Start here: it's almost always the batteries
If the torch light or the alarm on your StandSecure isn't working, the most common cause by far is the batteries being fitted the wrong way round. It's an easy thing to get wrong, and it's an easy thing to put right.

If you'd rather read it
- Open the battery compartment in the handle.
- Take the batteries out completely and set them down where you can see them.
- Look inside the compartment for the small + and − markings. Each battery has a flat end (−) and an end with a small raised bump (+).
- Put each battery back so its bump lines up with the + marking. If the batteries were the wrong way round, this alone usually fixes it.
- Close the compartment and test the light and the alarm.
The StandSecure uses 2 × AAA batteries.
Still not working?
A few other things worth trying:
- Try a fresh set of batteries. Batteries that have sat in a drawer can be flat even if they've never been used.
- Check the metal contacts inside the compartment sit against the ends of the batteries. If one has been pushed flat, easing it back out slightly can restore the connection.
- If the light comes on for a second and then goes out, that's usually a contact not sitting firmly — take the batteries out and refit them.
If you've tried all of that and it still isn't working, it's a fault and we'll put it right. Get in touch and let us know what you've tried, and a photo or short video of the problem if you're able to take one. If you can't manage a photo, that's completely fine — just tell us what's happening and we'll sort it out.
A battery stuck in the compartment
If a battery has gone in the wrong way round and is now wedged in, don't force it. Get in touch and we'll help — please don't use anything metal to lever it out.
