How does using my HSA/FSA save me money?

HSA and FSA accounts were created so people could use pre-tax money to pay for things that treat, mitigate or prevent a diagnosed medical condition.

Because that money has not been taxed, it goes further. Rather than pay tax on your wages and then spend what is left, qualified customers can put pre-tax funds towards the equipment that keeps them independent.

Common questions

What are HSA and FSA accounts?

Health savings accounts (HSA) and flexible spending accounts (FSA) let you set aside pre-tax dollars for eligible healthcare expenses. If you are not sure whether you have one, check with your employer or insurance company.

Can I use my HSA/FSA card at Naxir?

If you qualify, yes. Select Truemed as your payment option at checkout and use your HSA or FSA card as you would any other card. If you do not have enough funds in the account, you can split the payment between your HSA/FSA card and a regular card.

Can I use my regular credit card instead?

Yes. Choose that option inside the Truemed checkout. After your purchase, Truemed emails you instructions for submitting the receipt to your HSA/FSA administrator to be paid back.

What is a Letter of Medical Necessity?

A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is the document that makes the items on it qualified medical expenses, in the same way a visit to a practitioner or a pharmacy purchase is. An independent licensed practitioner issues it after reviewing your clinical intake form, and it satisfies the IRS requirements for the purchase it covers.

How long does the Letter of Medical Necessity take?

Usually a few hours. In some cases Truemed’s provider team needs longer, depending on the answers in the intake form. If it has not arrived, check your spam folder, then contact Truemed at support@truemed.com.

Are there fees for using Truemed?

There is no separate Truemed charge at checkout — the cost of Truemed’s services is included in the purchase price.

When should I use my HSA/FSA money?

HSA funds roll over and can be used all year round. FSA funds are different — for most plans they expire on 31 December and do not carry into the next year, so it is worth checking your plan’s deadline before it passes.

I do not have an HSA or FSA. Can I still use Truemed?

No — Truemed is for people who already have an HSA or FSA account, or who plan to open one during open enrolment. It is worth asking your employer whether one is available to you.

I do not live in the US. Can I use this?

Not at the moment. Truemed is currently only available in the United States. You can still order from Naxir anywhere we ship — you just pay the usual way.
