The StandSecure does two jobs: it helps you walk with confidence, and — unlike an ordinary cane — it helps you stand up on your own.
- To stand up from a chair, couch, or bed: place the cane firmly on the floor in front of you, between your legs, take hold of both handles, and push down on it to steady yourself as you rise.

The light and alarm run on 2 AAA batteries (not included) — just pop them into the compartment in the handle to get started. Then:
- LED light: press the red button on top of the handle to turn it on or off — it lights your path for safe trips at night.
- Emergency alarm: press the red button on the side of the handle to sound it if you have a fall and need to signal for help.
